Unique Development Companies’ story begins with founder Joseph Piciucco, an accomplished architect with more than a decade of experience at respected firms such as King + King Architects, Hueber Hares & Glavin, and Design Collective Architects. Early in his career, Joe saw firsthand how communication breakdowns between architects, contractors, and owners could derail project timelines and budgets. His vision was simple yet transformative: to bridge the gap between design intent and construction execution.

That vision became a reality in 1987 with the founding of Unique Design & Development, Inc. (UDD), and later evolved into Unique Development Companies, Inc. (UDC) in 2003. Today, UDC continues to expand its focus across general contracting, design–build delivery, and turnkey development services while always staying true to its founding principles of communication, collaboration, and trust.
